Collection Fondation Cartier
From May 31 to August 15, 2017, the Fondation Cartier will present a selection of major works from its collection at SeMA (Seoul Museum of Art). This public institution, known for a program that is both committed and open to the world, is located close to Deoksugung Palace at the heart of Seoul. Organized in close collaboration with SeMA, the exhibition occupies the three floors of the museum and offers moments of discovery, reflection, reading, listening and rapture. The Fondation Cartier collection, established immediately after the Fondation’s creation in October 1984, consists today of more than 1,500 works by more than 350 artists of close to 50 nationalities. It is regularly loaned for solo or thematic exhibitions to numerous cultural institutions in France and around the world.
More than 10 years after its presentation at the MOT (Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo), the Fondation Cartier collection is again being shown in Asia in an exhibition that will allow the public to discover the works of artists such as Ron Mueck, William Eggleston, David Lynch, Sarah Sze, Raymond Depardon, Chéri Samba, Marc Couturier, Claudia Andujar, or Jean-Michel Alberola. Korean creative talents—filmmakers, designers or artists— participate in the exhibition in a variety of ways, including through commissions, establishing a strong dialogue with the works in the collection.
