SCOLI ACOSTA biographybookspress
Reflecting a highly personalized iconography, Scoli Acosta’s works employ a near obsessional approach to the transformation of common objects and found materials. Recycling such discarded items as cornucopia murals (as found on the street corner markets in East Los Angeles), cars, brick fragments, solar panels, the plant world, polished driftwood and abandoned domestic furniture,
Acosta’s approach is one that relies upon the appropriation of manmade forms already toiled over by natural processes. Scoli Acosta was born in 1973 in Los Angeles where he lives and works. Awarded the Perrier-Jouët Prize for Best Artist at Zoo Art Fair in 2008, he has studied fine art at the Kansas City Art Institute (1994) and the Ultimate Akademie in Cologne, Germany (1997).
